Are You Subconsciously in Your Own Way? The Hidden Benefits of Staying Stuck

Are You Subconsciously in Your Own Way? The Hidden Benefits of Staying Stuck

Many of us know what it feels like to be stuck. You’re doing all the right things—reading the books, trying the tools, showing up… but still not getting the results.

Why?

Because there’s often a hidden benefit to staying stuck.

Even if our situation isn’t ideal, it might feel familiar, safe, or like something we can control.
Sometimes, staying in a pattern keeps us from confronting fears of failure, visibility, or even power.

We may say we want success, health, or love… but deep down we’ve learned to fear them.

This could stem from:

  • Family patterns and unspoken agreements

  • Cultural narratives about playing small

  • Internalized beliefs that power = danger or corruption

Staying stuck becomes a subconscious form of protection.

But here’s the cost: it blocks healing. It blocks change. It blocks joy.

So how do we get unstuck?

  1. Recognize the hidden benefit.
Are you getting a sense of control? Safety? Familiarity?

  2. Rewire the subconscious.
Mindset shifts are helpful—but deeper tools like mental fitness and somatic practices help you address the root.

  1. Choose support that resonates.
There’s no “one size fits all” method for change. But if you don’t believe in the support you choose, your inner saboteur will block it.

This is why choosing a coach or healer who feels right is critical. The energy must align.
