Before we dive in, let’s first quickly address what you definitely need to be avoiding for optimal dental health, namely:

  1. Sugar in any form, especially processed sweets, baked goods and confectionary items (it’s about time to rethink toxic sugar culture)
  2. Alcohol, including alcohol mouthwashes which are popular and marketed as “antibacterial” (in fact, they dry out the mucous membranes of the mouth and harm the oral microbiome, which then negatively affect gut health)
  3. Being overly focused on an antimicrobial approach, which misses the mark and makes us germaphobic rather than resilient

With that out of the way, below I’m covering the primary strategies that support dental health naturally, including dietary and gut health connections, the importance of saliva, the impact of teeth grinding, and effective therapies like ozone and hydroxyapatite. I’m also sharing some practical home remedies and natural products to provide a comprehensive toolkit for tooth protection.

  1. Understanding the Root Causes of Dental Caries

A holistic approach to reversing caries begins with understanding why they occur. Factors like nutrient-poor diets, imbalanced gut flora, stress, and insufficient saliva production weaken enamel and leave teeth vulnerable to decay [1]. It’s gentle, effective and affordable (costs next to nothing and doesn’t require a purchase of another plastic bottle with dyes and ingredients you can’t pronounce).
